Travel Tips

Make the most of your Thailand adventure with these helpful tips from our travel experts.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Thailand is during the cool and dry season between November and early April. The southern islands have slightly different weather patterns, with the Andaman coast (Phuket, Krabi) best from November to March.

Local Customs

Respect Thai customs by dressing modestly when visiting temples (cover shoulders and knees), removing shoes before entering homes and temples, and avoiding touching anyone's head. The Thai Royal Family is deeply revered, so always show respect.

Getting Around

In Bangkok, use the BTS Skytrain and MRT subway to avoid traffic. For intercity travel, consider domestic flights, comfortable buses, or overnight trains. In tourist areas, tuk-tuks, songthaews (shared taxis), and motorcycle taxis are common.

Food & Dining

Street food is a highlight of Thai cuisine and is generally safe to eat if the stall is busy with locals. Always drink bottled water and be cautious with ice. If you can't handle spicy food, learn to say "mai pet" (not spicy) when ordering.
